UX Designer



We are looking for a UX designer to join our Product Development team working across our online platform to improve it for our customers and partners alike. 

Having a direct influence on the customer journey this role will look to bring UX and design best practices into our existing structure ensuring the customer is at the centre of what we do. This role will also have responsibility for ensuring new experiences can be visually represented to an extremely high standard and according to the brand guidelines.

As this is a new role it will have the scope to shape the way that TravelLocal integrate UX into the product development lifecycle now and into the future, and is an exciting opportunity for the right person to really own the UX design for our product.


Key responsibilities


  •  Work with the Product Development team to create simple and practical online experiences that improve the customer journey
  • Clearly communicate design ideas using sketches, wireframes and user flow diagrams
  • Engage with stakeholders to validate designs ensuring they address main business challenges
  • Identify, analyse and prioritise UX problems within existing user journeys – finding appropriate solutions through research and relevant user testing methods
  • Being creative in the approach to validating new concepts and ideas
  • On an adhoc basis assist with the creation/editing of visual design assets such as print ads, banner ads and pdf resources
  • Bring design thinking to conversations addressing complex user and business challenges


Things we need you to have


  • Minimum 2 years experience in a UX Design role
  • Experience working directly within a Product development team running Agile processes
  • Comfortable validating ideas and concepts with customers using the most appropriate testing methods
  • To be a data driven problem solver
  • Ability to communicate design ideas across the business
  • Self-starter who thrives working under own initiative and is passionate about making a difference to the product
  • Comfortable with more traditional visual design and able to execute and develop the brand
  • Awareness of challenges and ability to implement experiences across different devices e.g. desktop vs mobile


Extra things we would love you to have


  • Experience working within a scale up organisation
  • Experience of working with a product aimed at an older demographic


Remuneration and benefits


The holiday allowance for our entire team is 25 days per year. Also all team members can benefit from our flexible working hours policy.

We are based in Runway East on Victoria Street in central Bristol. Runway East has an on site cafe overlooking the river and Castle Park which often hosts many social and meetup events. They also provide weekly perks to all members including cake Wednesday and an end of week drinks trolley.
